It been ages since I last heard of this melody in Anari. Yet, in some rare moods of the moment, you hear those childhood memories of melodies flashing in mind and I just cant resist the temptation of singing along in carefree frolic. Whenever I dream of my Mr. Right, there are certain songs that come closer to heart. I love the idea of a Mr. Right, someone who would always be my side when the world crackles down, on whom I can count on for honesty, fair play, generosity and kindness, who is pleasant natured, someone who can smile easily, judge rarely, help easily, is open minded, who couldn’t care less for reputation when character is questioned.. And the list goes on and on.. I wish I can dream him into my life. Here is a song thats dedicated to all those unshared dreams which may never see the light of the day!

My Indian Idol..

Here is someone who caught my senses in Indian Idol performance. I haven’t been much of a fan of TV, yet I happen to chance by the Indian Idol show as my Mom is an avid watcher. I love the way Mini Mathur anchors the show. This years judges are an intimidating list as well. Javed Akhtar, Alisha Chinai, Anu Mallik and Udit Narayan. Yes, they squabble a lot due to a lot of difference of opinions. Alisha is just speechless and goody goody for all, Udit is graceful and encouraging, Javed is just apt where as Anu mallik tries to give new definitions for being forthright. This year’s show has some really strong talent in the form of twelve contestants and there is a lot of emotional display going on the show. My personal favorites from the contestants are Emon, Pooja and Ankita.

Guess what, am floored by the amazing performance of this little bundle of talent called Ankita Mishra. Am impressed when I first saw her performing ‘Aayi re aayi re khushi’ from the movie ‘Khushi’ by fluke. Since then, I am glued to Indian Idol to check out her next performance. She is just amazing on stage and is a perfect combination of performance and singing. It feels as if she lives the song on the stage!

She has given some outstanding performances, since then. When people are wondering about her being Ankit ya Ankita, she sang a great bhajan. Well, she has pleasantly surprised everyone through her performances and made all the judges dance to her tunes. Must say, an amazing achievement lady! She got attitude, talent, style and a great doze of confidence.. I wonder if she gets the requisite voting, because of her tomboyish appeal. Yet, for me.. She is my Indian Idol!

I was going through old files and old memories when I hit upon this song. This song is my favorite and has a special place in heart as it kind of sums up the beauty of IMDR in a love filled melody. The best place to listen it is at Alumni Meet where someone or other inevitably picks up the mike to hum this along. Author unknown to me, yet am quite familiar with the nostalgic glow it brings in heart.

Somewhere They Can’t Find Me!

Can one ever find a place where one’s inner fears, pain and troubles can’t find them? Wish I don’t have to face them with all my armor donned on. Wish I can duck my head like an Ostrich in the sand at the sight of them and pretend am happy! Yet, in the end, as always, a shirker’s attitude never helps! Probably my shelter is good verse. I derive strength from good books, poems and soothing music in those insane moments where I feel I am being pushed to the limit.. Take time out, switch off from world, enjoy some solitude and face the world like a glorious sunshine! Nothing lasts forever, not even troubles!

Being Starry Eyed!

Thats the world of Mush Heaven! Pulp Fiction, Romantic Comedies, Historical Romances or plain Mills and Boons.. Its good to indulge in them once in awhile, even as we prepare ourselves for the hard reality! I used put a lot of blame on M&Bs for my screwed up idea of Mr. Right, yet they give such a comfort zone, albeit for the sheer predictable rhythm of the story line! An ode to the age of sixteen, those times when life is Feckless, Quixotic, Starry-eyed, Utopian, Sparky and Wild.

My Mood longs for Pardon Dolly’s songs Today, as my heart dances in longing for the moon.. Somehow, this song of her brings memories of innocence, dreams and love! I just love humming these lyrics in my head! Hope you will join too!

“Words To Live By”-Tips From A Speech Never Given…

Ladies and Gentlemen: Wear a sunscreen. If I could offer only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The scientists have proved the long-term benefits of sunscreen; where as the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own wandering experience. I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Oh never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you will look back at photos of yourself and recall how fabulous you really looked at the time. You are not as fat as you imagine.

Don’t worry about your future or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as solving an algebra equation by a chewing gum. Real troubles are apt to hit you at 4 pm on an idle Tuesday.

Do one thing that daily scares you.


Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts. Don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.


Don’t waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind. The race is long and, in the end, it’s only with yourself. Remember compliments, forget insults, and keep the love letters. Throw away old bank statements.


Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what to do with your life. Some of the most-interesting 40-year olds I know still don’t know what they want to do with theirs. Be kind to your knees. You will miss them once they are gone. May be you will marry, may be you won’t. May be you will have children, may be you won’t. May be you will divorce at 40, may be you will dance on your 75th wedding anniversary.

Whatever you do, don’t congratulate or berate yourself too much, your choices are half chances like everybody else’s. Enjoy your body. Use it every way you can. Don’t be afraid of it or of what other people think of it. It’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own.

Read the instructions, even if you don’t follow them. Do not read beauty magazines. They will only make you feel ugly.

Get to know your parents. You never know when they will be gone. Be wise to your siblings. They are the best link to your past and the people most likely to stick to you. Understand that friends come and go, but with the precious few, you should hold on.

Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle, the older you get, the more you need people who know you when you are young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft. TRAVEL;

Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You too will get old. And then you will fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders. Don’t expect anyone else to support you. May be you have a trust fund. May be you have a wealth spouse. But you never know when either one may run out.

Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you are 40, it will look 85. Be careful about whose advice you buy but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of retrieving the past from the dustbin, wiping it off and recycling for more than its worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen.
