Song Of the Day..

27 11 2007

Kisiki muskuraahaton pe ho nisaar
Kisika dard mil sake to le udhaar
Kisike waaste ho tere dil mein pyaar
Jeena issi ka naam hai

Maana apni jeb se fakeer hain
Phir bhi yaaron dil ke ham ameer hain
Mitte jo pyaar ke liye woh zindagi
Jale bahaar ke liye woh zindagi
Kisi ko ho na ho hamein to aitbaar
Jeena issi kaa naam hai

Rishta dil se dil ke aitbaar ka
Zinda hai hameen se naam pyaar ka
Ke mar ke bhi kisi ko yaad aayenge
Kisi ke aansuon mein muskuraayenge
Kahega phool har kali se baar baar
Jeena issi kaa naam hai
Kisiki muskuraahaton pe ho nisaar..

It been ages since I last heard of this melody in Anari. Yet, in some rare moods of the moment, you hear those childhood memories of melodies flashing in mind and I just cant resist the temptation of singing along in carefree frolic. Here’s to the love, cheer, joy and fun that this song spreads. If someone have this song in their music collection, please do share! 🙂

Thanks to the pal who found this for me. It is available here.

Viva Forever…

20 10 2007

On Lazy Saturdays! 🙂 Kept on listening to this song today and thought of sharing its lyrics..  One of my favorite visually beautiful and musically touching songs!

“Viva Forever” By Spice Girls

Do you still remember
How we used to be
Feeling together, believe in whatever
My love has said to me
Both of us were dreamers
Young love in the sun
Felt like my saviour, my spirit I gave ya
We’d only just begun

Hasta Manana,
Always be mine

Viva forever, I’ll be waiting
Everlasting, like the sun
Live forever,
For the moment
Ever searching for the one

Yes I still remember,
Every whispered word
The touch of your skin, giving life from within
Like a love song that I’d heard
Slipping through our fingers,
Like the sands of time
Promises made, every memory saved
Has reflections in my mind

Hasta Manana,
Always be mine

Back where I belong now,
Was it just a dream
Feelings unfold, they will never be sold
And the secret’s safe with me

Hasta Manana,
Always be mine

Mood of The Moment..

4 09 2007

Whenever I dream of my Mr. Right, there are certain songs that come closer to heart. I love the idea of a Mr. Right, someone who would always be my side when the world crackles down, on whom I can count on for honesty, fair play, generosity and kindness, who is pleasant natured, someone who can smile easily, judge rarely, help easily, is open minded, who couldn’t care less for reputation when character is questioned.. And the list goes on and on.. I wish I can dream him into my life. Here is a song thats dedicated to all those unshared dreams which may never see the light of the day!

I Knew I Loved You (Savage Garden)

Maybe it’s intuition
But some things you just don’t question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
And there it goes
I think I’ve found my best friend
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

There’s just no rhyme or reason
Only this sense of completion
And in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I’m searching for
I think I’ve found my way home

I know that it might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I’ve found you

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

My Indian Idol..

2 07 2007

Here is someone who caught my senses in Indian Idol performance. I haven’t been much of a fan of TV, yet I happen to chance by the Indian Idol show as my Mom is an avid watcher. I love the way Mini Mathur anchors the show. This years judges are an intimidating list as well. Javed Akhtar, Alisha Chinai, Anu Mallik and Udit Narayan. Yes, they squabble a lot due to a lot of difference of opinions. Alisha is just speechless and goody goody for all, Udit is graceful and encouraging, Javed is just apt where as Anu mallik tries to give new definitions for being forthright. This year’s show has some really strong talent in the form of twelve contestants and there is a lot of emotional display going on the show. My personal favorites from the contestants are Emon, Pooja and Ankita.

Guess what, am floored by the amazing performance of this little bundle of talent called Ankita Mishra. Am impressed when I first saw her performing ‘Aayi re aayi re khushi’ from the movie ‘Khushi’ by fluke. Since then, I am glued to Indian Idol to check out her next performance. She is just amazing on stage and is a perfect combination of performance and singing. It feels as if she lives the song on the stage!

She has given some outstanding performances, since then. When people are wondering about her being Ankit ya Ankita, she sang a great bhajan. Well, she has pleasantly surprised everyone through her performances and made all the judges dance to her tunes. Must say, an amazing achievement lady! She got attitude, talent, style and a great doze of confidence.. I wonder if she gets the requisite voting, because of her tomboyish appeal. Yet, for me.. She is my Indian Idol!

In Memory Of IMDR..

15 06 2007

I was going through old files and old memories when I hit upon this song. This song is my favorite and has a special place in heart as it kind of sums up the beauty of IMDR in a love filled melody. The best place to listen it is at Alumni Meet where someone or other inevitably picks up the mike to hum this along. Author unknown to me, yet am quite familiar with the nostalgic glow it brings in heart.

Purani jeans, aur guitar
Wah re poona, wah IMDR.
Hamare sapne, hamara pyaar,
Wah re poona, wah IMDR.

Woh Bhupi ka, banana chehre
Woh kehna yeh hain,
Systems ki baat.
Y.R. Rao ka hamesha hasna,
Class mein har sentence ke baad.
Woh bhola bhala, Kandy hamara,
Jo pooche hamse, andar ki baat.
Woh Sapre sir, jab canteen mein baithe,
Vrindavan, humko aaye bus yaad.
Jaane kahan se, aaya ye doctor,
Jo maare fatte, aur padhaye top.

Poochon mat, tum classroom ki baatein,
Ki unke andar bhi chaata hain pyaar.
Bus yaadein…

Assignments karna hamesha late,
Pahunchna classroom, teacher ke baad.
Woh ghanti bajne ki lambi yaad,
Woh bhaagna TT room, ghanti ke baad.

Woh library mein baatein karna
Woh daatna madam ka,
Humein baar-baar.

Aaye jab junies, hua yeh haal
Ek-ek ladke ko, hue do-do pyaar.
Quadrangle ka, kona-kona,
Kiya un ladkon ne, bilkul kharab.
Mohobbat ki o baazzee khelne waalon,
Yeh socha placements hain kitni paas?
Bus yaadein…

Aur kya kahoon mein yaar
Jaan se pyaara hain yeh pariwar
Ye aisa ghar hain hamare paas
Bhool jaaye hum to, apna ghar-baar.
Kucchh hi din ke, hum hain mehmaan,
Jaane kahan hum, jaaye iske baad.
Jahan bhi jaaye, hum iske baad,
Sataayegi humko, yahan ki yaad.
Aanso aayenge jab yaad aayegi
Aise hi apni, life guzre yaar.
Bus yaadein…

‘Sway’ is my all time favorite slow dance number by Rosemary Clooney.. Must be my first brush with traditional pop music, yet I love the way this song goes.. mmm…

When marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me
Make me sway
Like the lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close
Sway me more

Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me
Sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me
Sway with me

Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have that magic technique
When we sway I grow weak

I can hear the sound of violins
Long before
It begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth
Sway me now

Quien sera el que me quiere a mi
Quien sera
Quien sera
Quien sera el que me de su amor
Quien sera
Quien sera

I can hear the sound of violins
Long before
It begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth
Sway me now

Sway me smooth, Sway me now!

Somewhere They Can’t Find Me!

3 05 2007

Can one ever find a place where one’s inner fears, pain and troubles can’t find them? Wish I don’t have to face them with all my armor donned on. Wish I can duck my head like an Ostrich in the sand at the sight of them and pretend am happy! Yet, in the end, as always, a shirker’s attitude never helps! Probably my shelter is good verse. I derive strength from good books, poems and soothing music in those insane moments where I feel I am being pushed to the limit.. Take time out, switch off from world, enjoy some solitude and face the world like a glorious sunshine! Nothing lasts forever, not even troubles!

“So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We’re just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.”
-Wish You Were Here By Gilmour Waters, Pink Floyd
